Noto center for fisheries science and technology, Kanazawa university has an area of 6822 m2.
It consists of a three-storey Research education building of 4350 m3 (floor area 1044 m2) and a three-storey Research accommodation building of 5193 m3 (maximum number of 30 guests, floor area 1241 m2), renovated from a former hotel. The laboratory includes fluorescence microscope, incubators, clean bench and analysis equipment for histology, biochemistry and molecular biology.
In addition, the Research education building and the Research accommodation building are equipped with state-of-the-art security systems, including nine security cameras and card-key entry. On the first floor of the Research education building, there is three indoor aquarium room. An aquarium room with four 30t FRP sheet tanks on the first floor of the research accommodation building. Outdoor area with 20 t FRP sheet tank, 2-10 t FRP tanks. Breeding seawater can be supplied by sand filtration and ultraviolet sterilization of seawater at a rate of about 260 tons per hour. About 3 tons per hour of underground fresh water (average 16°C) is pumped up from 30 metres below ground and used as breeding water. We rear tiger puffer, Japanese flounder, rainbow trout and masu salmon.
